Covering CEO Appointed At Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport

20 New International Destinations And 80 Additional Domestic Flights Expected To Boost Air Travel

SEPANG – A total of 20 new international destinations and 80 additional domestic flights are expected to boost air travel further for the network of airports operated by Malaysia Airports including its Turkish asset, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG). Some of the new destinations include Hamburg, Basel, Zurich, Sarajevo, Copenhagen, Lyon, and Hannover for flights from ISG with up to 25 weekly frequencies. At KLIA, Malaysia’s flag carrier Malaysia Airlines has reinstated destinations such as London and Jakarta.

SEPANG- Malaysia Airports’ fully owned Turkish asset, the Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (ISG), has shown encouraging recovery in 1H21 with total passenger traffic movements at 53% of pre-COVID-19 levels and an average load factor of 70% for its flights. Airports Council International (ACI) had also ranked the airport as the 4th busiest in Europe within the same period.

SEPANG – In October 2020, Eurocontrol announced that Malaysia Airports’ overseas asset Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (IATA Code: SAW) in Turkey was ranked as the fifth busiest airport in Europe, registering a daily average of almost 500 flights. Eurocontrol is the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. The Malaysia Airports group’s sustainability is well supported by the encouraging recovery seen at SAW in the last several months.
