Latest band news ..... We've had a great start to the autumn with both our highly successful Autumn Fair and our joint concert with the Friendly Band at the Square Chapel in Halifax.
The fair, which was really well supported, raised about £430 so well done to everyone who took part/helped/baked, it was well worth the effort.
Making their public debuts were our new 'A' band drummer, Anna Carnochan, and also our new chair, Megan Horne, herself a former player and whose daughter Gabriella now plays trombone. Megan started her musical career with the band when she was seven, playing up to the age of 18 - her sister Cerian played cornet and her mum, Liz, was on the committee for 12 years. So we are very lucky to have Megan at the helm.
Other highlights of the fair included solos by Soprano cornet Anton Caldwell and Rhiannon Scorer on the tenor horn.
And the joint concert with Friendly was a fantastic opportunity to play with such a highly acclaimed and talented bunch of mainly more mature musicians! We were given a very warm welcome - Friendly normally do this one alone - and the audience seemed very appreciative to get "two for the price of one"!

Nice to see music transcends the generations with Zephyr Gravestock (9) and Derek Danks (85) comparing notes.
